Draft Law on National Minorities sent for adoption to the Albanian Parliament


After many years of advocacy by the national minorities and their representative organizations, the Government of the Republic of Albania has approved and sent for adoption to the Parliament of the Republic of Albania the final draft of the Law “On National Minorities in the Republic of Albania”. The draft law is a product of the work and conclusions drawn up by the Working Group of representatives of state institutions that cover issues concerning minorities for this purpose. The Committee for National Minorities of the Republic of Albania, an institution that has been regularly advocating for the adoption of such an act, played a major role and contributed to the adoption of critical positive dispositions. Celebration of Easter in Vraka


Easter Liturgy was served Sunday 16 April 2017, in Vraka, near Shkodra in the church of the Holy Trinity, led by father Justin (Mrenovic) concelebrated by numerous clergy from Montenegro, with the participation of the faithful and members of the Serbian-Montenegrin national minorities of other religions who are always share joyful events with their brothers of the same nationality. After communion and consecration of Easter eggs, father Justin congratulated all the participants and conveyed Easter greetings from the Metropolitan Amfilohije, who for 25 years cares of religious life of our orthodox people of Serbian origin. He recalled that in a such day Resurrection of Christ was served by the Metropolitan Amfilohije in this city, which is the first time someone held a liturgy after the regime of Enver Hoxha in Albania, extending support to the suffering people. He added that thanks to His Beatitude Anastasia the God’s church was restored in Albania and children are born and baptized in the church. He mentioned his origin from Mrenovic family, originating from Vraka, whose grandfather was Peter Mrenović served 95 years ago. He addressed to the believers with the words- Christ has risen, to which believers responded in one voice-Indeed He has risen.
The liturgy was attended also by the Deputy Ambassador of the Republic of Serbia in Tirana Mr. Jugoslav Djordjevic with her wife.

After the Liturgy, the table of love was held where the guests from Montenegro were welcomed by Mr. Pavle Brajović strong, president of the Association of Serbs and Montenegrins from Shkodra “Moraca-Rozafa” and Mr. Simo Ajković, president of the Orthodox Association “Sveti Jovan Vladimir” from Shkodra. They expressed their gratitude to the Metropolitan Amfilohije who selflessly cares for our people in Shkodra and Vraki and gathers them around the holy Church.

Celebration of the birth of Jesus Christ in Vraka


Celebrating Christmas in Vraka near Shkodra continued today after yesterday’s ceremony of setting holy fire. The Holy Liturgy in the church of the Holy Trinity in Vraki was served by father Radomir Nikcevic together with Shkodra priest father Nikolla Petani. The Liturgy, among the faithful, was attended by Serbian Ambassador to Albania Miroljub Zaric, president of the association Moraca-Rozafa Pavle Brajovic, president of Sveti Jovan Vladimir, Simo Ajkovic and other public figures. Christmas Eve in Shkodra


Orthodox believers and members of the Serbo-Montenegrin national minority in Shkodra celebrated today, today celebrated the Christmas Eve lightning up a fire in the courtyard of the church of St. Trinity in Vraka. They were joined in the celebration by many of their friends and members of our organization of other religions.
The ceremony was led by Nikola Petani, the Shkodra pastor who blessed fire and wished the present people to have the values of Orthodoxy in their everyday lives and wished health, happiness and prosperity in their homes.
The Association invites all believers tomorrow, in the same church, to attend the Christmas liturgy, beginning at 10 am.
